All Out on Police 'Bail'

Brave bowling, wacky wickets and family fun are in store during a community cricket match being held in Watford on Sunday August 3rd, 2008.

"Whether you want to support the police or a team made up from the local community come and watch the match - I can't promise that it will be professional, but it will be fun,’ said PC Irfan Ishaq based in St Albans, who organised the family event.

He said: ‘Although the main event is the cricket match, as well as stalls and other events to keep the family entertained, it is also about feeling part of our diverse community.

‘And through sport, hopefully we can build up new relationships and help each other out so that we can live in a safe, happier environment.’

The event is between 1pm and 6pm at the West Herts Cricket Club in Park Avenue in Watford.

The matches will be between Hertfordshire Constabulary and a team made up from the local community.

A bouncy castle, food stalls and a recruitment stand, to discuss becoming a police officer and police staff, will be at the club.

He added: ‘Your support at the event would be much appreciated as we hope it will be a successful day for everyone - whether we win or loose! I have been informed that the sunshine will be attending this event!’

Assistant Chief Constable Heather Valentine will be attending to award the winner team a trophy.
