Harwich
Police Station Opens Doors to the Public
The
doors to Harwich police station were open to the public on Saturday to
showcase some of the good police work going on in the town.
The dog unit, traffic unit, mobile police station and marine unit were
all on hand to demonstrate their skills and a Subaru Impreza was also
there as part of the ANPR team.
Children were dazzled with magic from Doctor Mark Magic and were given
the opportunity to step into the shoes of a criminal and have their fingerprints
taken. If they were feeling particularly good, they could dress up in
a police uniform.
Members of the public were invited in for guided tours of the station
and to view exhibits from the Essex Police Museum.
Police community support officer Raymond Aylott said: 'The event was very
busy and it was very encouraging to see so many people turn up and take
an interest in neighbourhood policing. We had great interaction with the
public and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves.
It is definitely something we will run again in the future.'
