Police Officers in Local Raft Race

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from Ware Safer Neighbourhood Team took part in the annual Ware Raft Race on Saturday, July 12th.

The team, known as the ‘Row Boat Cops’ was made up of local PCSOs Laura Caddy, Kristine Brady, Claire Wright and Nadine Ledger with two others who helped build the raft.

The ‘Row Boat Cops’ started 9th on the grid after building their raft in just 20 minutes and finished the race 7th out of 11 teams.

Police Community Support Officer Nadine Ledger from Ware Safer Neighbourhood Team said: ‘It was a really enjoyable day. We had practiced building the raft but hadn't actually been on the water with it before the day and we were really proud that our raft stayed afloat!’

Local resident and East Herts Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator, Keith Batchelor said:
‘The entry of a PCSO team in the annual Ware Raft Race was well received by the local community and they deserved the applause and recognition given by the public. It was the first time we had had an all lady team and the first time a police team had entered.’

He added: ‘I think they deserve a very big thank you for taking part.’
