A Fond Farewell to a Dacorum PC

Hertfordshire Constabulary is waving goodbye to PC Clive Porter after 30 years and 10 months of service.

Clive, who lives in Tring with his wife, is the father of two daughters aged 33 and 20. He is hoping to work at police headquarters in WGC for the Police National Computer department as a civilian.

He was previously a neighbourhood constable in Tring from 1989 to 2002, an intervention and response officer in Tring and Berkhamsted from 2002 to 2006 and a neighbourhood constable in Tring from 2006 to 2008. He retired on July 9th.

Clive said: ‘I have spent most of my time working in Tring and I have really enjoyed working with the people there, being involved in the community.

‘It was good for the locals that I lived in Tring as it meant I could relate to them and I sometimes had them knocking on my door for help.

‘I will miss all those I worked with there.’

During his time as an officer he received a Chief Constable's Commendation in 2006 for his work in connection with Operation Sphinx. This was an investigation into a murder in Hoddesdon.

Clive added: ‘My job involved being part of a team which looked through 300 CCTV tapes for evidence, which took six to eight weeks.

‘We managed to find the evidence we were after and it was really interesting work, especially seeing how the investigation fitted together.’
