Police
Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from Bishop's Stortford Safer Neighbourhood
Team will be holding free Frisbee and rounders matches throughout August
for the local community.
The
games will take place on Sworders Field in Bishop's Stortford, are open
to all ages and are completely free of charge.
There will be a Mobile Police Station at each session with police from
Hertfordshire Constabulary available to take enquiries.
The first session is on Tuesday, July 29th, between 1pm and 4pm and then
run throughout August at the following times:
Tuesdays 1pm - 4pm
Wednesdays 1pm - 4pm
Fridays 4pm - 7pm
PC Wayne Allen initially set up Ultimate Frisbee and the Bishop's Stortford
Safer Neighbourhood Team has been going into local schools teaching them
the rules and principles of the game. They now have their own kit sponsored
by local business, Aspects.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Clare Andrews from Bishop's Stortford
Safer Neighbourhood Team said: We are inviting people of all ages
to come down to meet the Safer Neighbourhood Team and get involved with
the games. We'll also be available to take any enquiries about local issues
and crime prevention.
There are no referees so players make their own foul calls and settle
disputes according to procedures laid out in the Rules of Ultimate. It's
about playing in the spirit of the game and having a mutual respect between
each other. It's a really enjoyable game and we hope to see lots of people
there from the local community.
