Police Run for Charity

Local Avon and Somerset Police took part in the Wellington 10k Fun Run on Sunday July 20th to raise money for the Children's and Neonatal Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital.

A team of sixteen police officers - including Sergeants, Police Constables, Special Constables and PCSOs - all turned out at the event and between them they raised over £1,300 for the cause.

Chief Superintendent Sandy Padgett, who took part in the race, said: 'As a team we have been training for this run since March and we are so pleased that our hard work paid off as everyone completed the course.

'The weather was beautiful and we had a great time, but more importantly we raised a great deal of money for a really important cause.

'We chose to donate our sponsorship money to the children's unit at Musgrove because it's such an important service that cares for the children of so many people in our community.'
