Special
Constable Receives Commendation
A
Special Constable in Taunton received a District Commander's Commendation
last week for his actions to save a person attempting to commit suicide.
Whilst off duty Special Constable Sean Oaten was walking through Priorswood
in March 2008 when he saw a distressed woman by the railway tracks. SC
Oaten dialled 999 and kept the woman safe until assistance arrived.
SC Oaten was presented with a framed certificate by Chief Superintendent
Sandy Padgett on Thursday July 17th.
Chief Superintendent Padgett said: 'Special Constable Oaten really went
the extra mile that day to ensure the safety of a member of the public
and so he truly deserves this award.
'The District Commander's Commendation allows me to recognise the good
work of Somerset West officers and presenting this to SC Oaten
was a real pleasure.'
