Looking for something to do at the end of this summer
holidays? Why not take the opportunity to visit the one event which
showcases the work of your local police force and our partner agencies.
Norfolk
Constabulary Gala Day has grown over the past three decades to become
one of the biggest policing extravaganzas of its type in the country.
Come and join the police experience see how you meet with the police
service every day and take part in everything from our monster truck show
to belly dancing and the Chinese Lion Dance.
This year's Gala Day will open your eyes to the work of your local Police
Service and how we are becoming fit for the future with something for
all the family to get involved with.
The Police Experience will be an interactive display where visitors will
get the chance to meet all the different officers and staff who provide
services to the public and find out how you can help your neighbourhoods.
In addition, there will be plenty to watch in the Grand Ring including
the Norfolk Police Dog demonstration and mock rescues at the lake.
Held at the Norfolk Showground in Costessey on 31st August 2008, Gala
Day also has its own brand of family entertainment, trade and charity
stands. This year Norfolk Constabulary's chosen charity which we
will be supporting throughout the day is Nelson's Journey, which has been
in operation since November 1997. The charity was established to
provide a service to children and young people who have experienced the
death of a significant person in their life.
Returning once again will be the very popular Radio Norfolk Old Car Rally,
which has been supporting Gala Day every year since 1984 and features
old and treasured classics for everyone to admire.
The day is designed to offer something for everyone with gates opening
between 10am and 6pm. Tickets are adults £7, children under 16 £3,
and families £15.
