Cozart’s Latest Cocaine Test Receives Home Office Approval

Cozart’s latest cocaine drug testing kit can detect the presence of the class A drug in just two minutes.

The portable Cocaine Solids Rapid Test contains a collection swab, test cartridge and solution bottle. Following successful trials, the product received Home Office approval and can now be used by all UK police forces.

Dr Chris Hand, managing director of Cozart plc, said: ‘We have developed the new test in association with the police who needed a compact on-site test that would identify cocaine solids such as powder.

The test’s super-sensitivity means it can detect cocaine in a sample containing less that 1 parts per million. The company says it is as reliable and accurate as laboratory screening.

The Home Office granted approval for its use in minor possession with personal use and presumptive guilty plea cases.

With application for testing of both suspect powders and solid materials such as ‘crack-cocaine’ the test has been shown not to have interference from similar looking substances such as common household foods, chemicals and medicines.
