Targets up for Discussion?

As we go to press, a new Prime Minister prepares to take office. Gordon Brown has already talked at length of the need for change and if there is one area that all ranks of policing agree should be reviewed it is the performance target culture that currently pervades the service and distorts policing at a local level (news). According to a survey, only 12 per cent of Superintendents believe targets are helpful.

Thank you to all those that took the time to come and chat to us on our stand at last week’s ACPO/APA conference and exhibition. We were delighted with the positive feedback we received about our product. The overall impression we had from other exhibitors was that while stands at this year’s event were not swamped with visitors, those that did attend were of a high quality.

Our recruitment website http://www.allpolicejobs.co.uk has gone from strength to strength since its launch earlier this year. In just five months, it has had well over a million page downloads and is racing towards it 100,000th visitor. So if you’re looking for a new position in policing, or just want to get a feel for the current recruitment situation, click on the links on the left.
