Improving
Detection and Community Relations
Every
week, it seems, forensic scientists come up with new ways to catch criminals.
With increased competition in the market, the FSS has upped its game
and begins piloting a new DNA technique today (forensics) that could
increase detections for high volume crime by separating out mixed or
poor quality samples of DNA.
Serious crime may dominate the headlines, but volume crime is much more
likely to touch our lives. This is good news for the public, but even
better news for the police who have Government targets to chase.
Congratulations to Pc Mark Carter from West Yorkshire police for scooping
Mr Gay UK 2006 (news). Mark received the full backing of his force to
take part and fifty of his colleagues turned up to support him. This
one event has probably done more to improve relations between the police
and Gay community than any amount of diversity training.
