Wales Police officers and staff are mourning the death of a colleague
who was killed in a road accident last week. PC Richard Charles Gostage
died as a result of a motorcycling collision on the A5 at Cerrigydrudion.

The
Independent Police Complaints Commission is appealing for witnesses
to help it investigate corruption allegations made in a BBC documentary.
Referring to the 'The boys who killed Stephen Lawrence', shown on television

Two female Staffordshire officers are recovering after being attacked

Microsoft
has teamed up with the new Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP)
Centre to make the reporting of online abuse easier. The move sees the
addition of a new Messenger 'tab' and features the CEOP Centre's distinctive

online police services.

of Failed Asylum Seekers 'its highest rate ever'
The
number of applications submitted by foreign nationals seeking asylum in
the UK fell by 15% in the second quarter of 2006 compared to the first
quarter, and the removals of failed asylum applicants increased by 36%
in that quarter compared to the same quarter in 2005, according to the
Home Office.

The
Federation has called for a full debate on racial profiling to help
identify terrorists. Alan Gordon, Vice Chairman of the Police Federation
of England and Wales said that profiling has been used to identify football
hooligans for years and could be used to route out terrorists.

A
new web portal, the first of its kind, is transforming the way councils
share information on suppliers and contracts across the Yorkshire and

Two former Northumbria police officers who pleaded guilty to criminal

Explosives Research at Centre of EU Talks
More
research into the detection of liquid explosives were at the centre
of talks between the Home Secretary and EU interior ministers, the
Home Office has revealed. The meeting on last week's alleged terrorist
activity also looked at ways to tackle the use of the internet to
radicalise young people and adopt new standards of protective security
at European airports.

Officer Dies in Motorway Collision on M6 (Wigan)
A 52 year old man who died following a traffic collision on the M6
near Wigan earlier this month has been formally identified as a serving
police officer with Greater Manchester Police. PC Peter Cross of Churton
Grove in Standish was a pedestrian in the northbound carriageway of
the M6 when he was in collision with two cars.

Two Gloucestershire officers were injured when their vehicle left
